only at chapter 3 and worth every penny

My girlfriend had taken a college class that was using this book to help teach students about debate. I asked her to loan it to when I saw it because in buisness I often find my self around deceptive people that make it near impossible, even when I'm 100% right, to prove my case.

I'm only partly into chapter 3, but have already put both chapters into praticle use and have found it essential when communicating with non-peers and parents. Although as an engineer, I find most of the concepts explained rather intuitive, this book has enlightened me to the fact that most people don't know how to think logically and has given me the examples I need to show them how.

The author clearly defines the structure of a good sound argument as well as giving examples of what a bad premisisis in a language that nearly anyone can understand.

Snow has an easy style, and is able to convey a strong sense of the psychology underlying the story. It's an intensely erotic plot. But the text is awfully short for $2.99. Even with the 1st part being a freebie, it's still a $9 book that barely clocks in at 150 pages.

I read Breaking Josh #1 awhile ago so after a quick scan through it once more, I started listening to this audiobook. It was nice to see that part 2 starts off immediately where the first book ended. Josh is immediately immersed in his new training program which the very Dominant and seasoned trainer Talia is commandeering. Some of the conditioning techniques she uses in this story were extremely impressive, bringing back memories of college psych-classes. I don't know that they would work quite as quickly as they do in this story but these definitely are viable techniques!

I might have given this a higher rating had these small, "books" been combine to make an actual book. This brief installments are truly just a few chapters taken from what would have made one full book had they been combined.

Oh my!

And things only get better.. for the reader that is *grins*

Another brilliant addition to the series giving us reader exactly what we crave. In this book we see the level of kink both widen and deepen and I loved both. The plot thickens as with Talia's jealousy of Juliette... and poor Josh in the middle. Will these beauties stop at nothing? I hope not!

Miss Lily knows her kinks very well, a deliciously hot read!

Intrigued by Velikovsky's claim that Saturn was once the pre-eminent planetary god, David Talbott resolved to examine its mythical character. "I wanted to know," he wrote, "if ancient sources had a coherent story to tell about the planet . . . I had no inkling of the spectacular tale hidden in the chronicles."

In this startling re-interpretation of age-old symbolism Talbott argues that the "Great God" or "Universal Monarch" of the ancients was not the sun, but Saturn, which once hung ominously close to the earth, and visually dominated the heavens.

Talbott's close textual and symbolic analysis reveals the fundamental themes of Saturn imagery and proves that all of them--including the "cosmic ship", the "island at the top of the world", the "eye of heaven" and "the revolving temple"--were based on celestial observations in the northern sky. In addition he shows how such diverse symbols as the Cross, "sun"-wheels, holy mountains, crowns of royalty and sacred pillars grew out of ancient Saturn worship. Talbott contends that Saturn's appearance at the time, radically different from today, inspired man's leap into civilization, since many aspects of early civilization can be seen as conscious efforts to re-enact or commemorate Saturn's organization of his "celestial" kingdom.

foundations for a new comprehensive religious theory

Talbott has laid the cornerstone for a revolutionary and brilliant approach towards explaining mythology and ritual from a historical point of view. His work is clear and convincing, though several details cannot be maintained. Unlike Velikovsky's he works his ideas out in detail and opens the way for multitudes of new ideas. This book might even exceed Velikovsky's work in importance as it does certainly so in scope.

Origins of religion convincingly explained

This is not a quick read nor particularly well-written but it is a well-documented and an immensely powerful argument for the early gods of pre-history being cosmic entities that were in fact the planets. The world mountain, the cosmic tree and other mythological aspects are explained in scientific terms. Is Talbott correct? I am fairly sure he's on to something important. I know I can never view traditional astronomy or even the present concept of religion in the same light after spending time with this book. Too bad it's out of print but my library got me a copy.

The only book we used when visiting Yellowstone

We just got home from Yellowstone and bought this book about a month prior to going. Even though we bought a couple of guides this was the only one that got any use. It's layout is helpful. The information is right on and the CD are helpful too. We got to listen to information about an area before we visited it. Just buy this book and you will be happy.

Excellent book!

This is one of the best books I have seen on touring Yellowstone National Park. It's full of maps, information, and beautiful pictures of sights to see. The book also includes sections on popular hiking trails, their difficulty and distance, as well as planning your trip to Yellowstone. The Audio Tour CD and the Virtual Tour CD-ROM that are included are also excellent. If you've never been to Yellowstone before or even if you've been there several times and want to learn more about the park, this is a great book to have.

Great purchase!

We purchased this book because it was cheaper online. They can be purchased in every gift shop in Yellowstone for upper $30 range plus tax. We loved having a visual of all the roadside stops and maps. Great photos. Love the spiral bound. Good overall guidebook. Much better than the free info that is given when you arrive. CD is very graphic in places. Most of the graphic details refer to the danger of approaching wildlife and jumping into boiling hot springs. Don't be afraid to purchase because of this. You'll have enough time to stop the cd when you start hearing about these things.

About the Author
Frank Schmalleger, PhD, is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He also serves as director of the Justice Research Association, a private consulting firm and think tank, based in Palm Beach, Florida, focusing on issues of crime and justice.

Dr. Schmalleger holds a bachelor s degree from the University of Notre Dame and both a master s and a doctorate in sociology from Ohio State University with a special emphasis in criminology. From 1976 to 1994, he taught criminal justice courses at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, serving for many years as a tenured full professor. For the last 16 of those years, he chaired the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminal Justice. As an adjunct professor with Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Schmalleger helped develop a graduate program in security management and loss prevention that is currently offered on U.S. military bases around the world. He taught courses in that curriculum for more than a decade, focusing primarily on computer and information security. Dr. Schmalleger also has taught in the New School for Social Research online graduate program, helping build the world s first electronic classrooms for criminal justice distance learning.

Dr. Schmalleger is the author of numerous articles and many books, including Criminal Justice Today (Prentice Hall, 2011), Criminal Justice: A Brief Introduction (Prentice Hall, 2010), Criminology Today (Prentice Hall, 2009), and Criminal Law Today (Prentice Hall, 2011). He is founding editor of the journal Criminal Justice Studies (formerly The Justice Professional ) and has served as imprint advisor for Greenwood Publishing Group s criminal justice reference series. Dr. Schmalleger is also the creator of a number of awardwinning Web sites (including cybrary.info and crimenews .info) and founder and codirector of the Criminal Justice Distance Learning Consortium, a project of the Justice Research Association.

EXCELLENT INTRODUCTION

Relatively up to date (September 11 and law enforcement reactions, USA PATRIOT Act, etc.), and very informative, this textbook provides an excellent survey of the Criminal Justice System. The prose is streamlined, clear, and somewhat non-biased. Minor corrections may need to be made (e.g. the textbook states that the majority of female sexual assault victims do not know their attacker. . .), but these flaws are minor for a textbook of this scope. The book is extensively source documented, making it perfect for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of the Criminal Justice System. The CD-ROM and online tools are comprehensive, and give the reader/student a more intimate view of the author's vision.

Access Code is Missing

My advice: if you are planning to use this for a class, and you want to access the supplemental website materials, do NOT purchase from Amazon.com !!!! I purchased this for an Intro to Criminal Justice college course. Amazon is selling the book withOUT the access code, but advertise it as "MyCrimeKit.com series". When I first contacted customer service about the missing code, they insisted that the book was "defective" and they sent me a new book. guess what? the second book arrived and is also missing the access code. Amazon says they will give me a refund and now I have to purchase the book from the publisher. Aggravation!!

This is the camera speaking

The 330 photos, from 250 photographers, in the book provide a stimulating look at how this art form has progressed over the last few decades. The eight chapters each start with a four page essay looking at a particular aspect of photography, it cold be the body, documentary, performance or experimental then followed by examples from artists who specialize in their genre. I thought the range of material revealed in these images quite extraordinary and very wide ranging. Chapter eight covering experimental work has pictures made from film that might not have even been inside a camera: Marco Breuer's 'Pan' (2003) is scratched chromogenic paper; Bruce Conner creates cameraless portraits.

With so many photographers included this is an excellent way to discover somebody new to me and compare their work with others in the same style though the work of truly big names is included with their most well produced images like Eggleston's 1973 red motel ceiling or Shore's 1975 'Beverly Boulevard and La Brea Avenue'. The MoMA collection is obviously strong on American born artists but the rest of the world, especially Europe and Japan, are included. This is the first book of a three volume set, the second considers work from 1914 and the third surveys the origins of the medium. If the other two are as good as this title it will be a remarkable set.

I think it's worth commenting on the book's production, it can't be faulted. Excellent typography, paper (150 gsm Creator Silk) and printing with a very fine screen (possibly 300) by Brizzoli, Madrid. If only all photobooks looked this good.

Excellent Book on Microcomputer Systems!

Actually I was very shocked to show up to the first day of my Microcomputer Systems I class to find out that this book was written by the ECE chair at my school (I am an undergraduate in Computer Engineering)! If your looking to master the basics of working with Microcontrollers to more advanced concepts this book is for you! I believe this book was written for two Microcontrollers by Freescale Semiconductor. The book introduces you to lots theory and gives you general ideas on how to apply it. These Microcontrollers can be programmed in an IDE called Freescale Codewarrior (Great IDE) in C or assembly (Some examples but don't expect full tutorials). This is a great book if you've got a good background on Digital Logic Design and are looking to learn more advanced Computer Engineering. Takes two semesters to finish this book at my school.

i'm sure it's probably fine. i never read it though. like most college classes the professor just teaches what he wants to or feels is important. if i could rate the professor though i would say that Dr. Lee suuuuuuucks.
