From the Author
The oil & gas industry is vital to the world's economy and is great industry to be in. Can you imagine a world without energy? I wanted to write a book that would help introduce readers to the fascinating world of oil & gas and cover the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the industry.

Another reason I wanted to write this book is that there are actually very few business or finance books about the oil & gas industry that cover all the sectors; some books focus on exploration & production, some on pipelines and some on chemicals, but there aren't that many books that cover all sectors from a finance perspective.

An additional inspiration was simply to recognize the industry and convey the amount of work it takes to deliver a barrel of oil all the way from exploration to the delivery of fuels at the local service station.

About the Author
Primary Author - Alfonso Colombano has been carefully studying the oil & gas industry for more than a decade. He has worked for two International Oil Companies (IOC’s) and one refining company as a Finance and Operations Analyst in upstream, midstream and downstream operations. Alfonso’s expertise encompasses all sectors of the oil & gas industry including upstream, midstream and downstream, which led him to create and write this book. Alfonso is an avid reader of Forms 10-K and 20-F, financial statements and other external company publications. Amazon.com Review
A departure from Evelyn Waugh's normally comic theater, Brideshead Revisited concerns the tale of Charles Ryder, a captain in the British Army in post-World War I England. Unlike Waugh's previous narrators, Ryder is an intelligent man, looking back on much of his life from his current post in Oxford. He strikes a special friendship with Lord Sebastian Flyte as the setting moves to the Brideshead estate and a baroque castle that recalls England's prior standing in the world. Ryder falls for Flyte's sister while families, politics and religions collide. What makes the book extraordinary is Waugh's sharp, vivid style and his use of dialect and minor characters. This is one of Waugh's finest accomplishments and a superb book.

From Publishers Weekly
In this classic tale of British life between the World Wars, Waugh parts company with the satire of his earlier works to examine affairs of the heart. Charles Ryder finds himself stationed at Brideshead, the family seat of Lord and Lady Marchmain. Exhausted by the war, he takes refuge in recalling his time spent with the heirs to the estate before the war--years spent enthralled by the beautiful but dissolute Sebastian and later in a more conventional relationship with Sebastian's sister Julia. Ryder portrays a family divided by an uncertain investment in Roman Catholicism and by their confusion over where the elite fit in the modern world. Although Waugh was considered by many to be more successful as a comic than as a wistful commentator on human relationships and faith, this novel was made famous by a 1981 BBC TV dramatization. Irons's portrayal of Ryder catapulted Irons to stardom, and in this superb reading his subtle, complete characterizations highlight Waugh's ear for the aristocratic mores of the time. Fervent Anglophiles will be thrilled by this excellent rendition of a favorite; Irons's reading saves this dinosaur from being suffocated by its own weight.

From Library Journal
Academy award winner Jeremy Irons demonstrates impressive skill in his performance of Brideshead Revisited. From the charming yet doomed Lord Sebastian Flyte to the absurd, stuttering Anthony Blanche, Irons manages to capture the many nuances and subtleties of each character. Waugh's most successful novel, narrated by Charles Ryder, this classic of 20th-century literature re-creates a vanished world and peoples it with a vivid and believable cast. The setting is Oxford and Brideshead Castle in the 1920s through the early 1940s. From the beginning, Ryder is captivated by the fascinating Sebastian, second son of Lord Marchmain, who seems to lead a charmed life filled with friends, wealth, and a noble family. But as Charles's friendship with Sebastian deepens, Charles is pulled into a closer relationship with the Marchmains a family with more than one dark secret to hide. Highly recommended for all libraries. Theresa Connors, Arkansas Tech Univ., Russellville

If you know Brideshead you will love Jeremy's reading of it
By johnM
This version of Brideshead Revisited written by Evelyn Waugh is the audiobook which is read by Jeremy Irons. I have tried to locate this version for years without luck. Then by chance I located it in a library in Calgary USA. In the UK it's just impossible to find. If you know Brideshead you will love Jeremy's reading of it. He strikes the perfect balance in his speech pattern and is able to convey disdain, surprise, cordiality and love. For me after all these years since watching it first on Granada TV back in the early eighties and having the DVD's of both the original and the Ben Whishaw version it was like hearing the voice of an old friend. Oddly I only read the book after seeing the Granada series and have re-read it countless times since, my dog-eared copy is well thumbed. To hear Jeremy read it, is like opening a time capsule, it takes me back to those bleak austere days of the three day week, power cuts, and wild-cat strikes. The enunciation, clarity of speech and impeccable diction will leave you reeling. I always find some new word to research when re-reading Brideshead and listening to Jeremy corrects my mispronunciation of Latin. If you have not heard this you are missing out. John M P.S. Hope this helps you decide.

Among the Greatest Classics of Modern English Literature
By Jeffrey J. Ward
This is the best known of Evelyn Waugh's novels where he displays his affection for the English aristocracy and his fascination with the Catholic faith. The narrator is an architectural painter Charles Ryder who becomes close friends at Oxford with Sebastian Flyte, son of a Marquess. Ryder, an agnostic, is taken to visit Brideshead which Sebastian describes as where his family lives rather than as his home. Ryder becomes well acquainted with the entire family at Brideshead and with Sebastian's absent father, Lord Marchmain who lives in Italy. Sebastian is a flamboyant homosexual who is loved but at the same time estranged from his family. Sebastian correctly believes that his mother is trying to enlist Ryder to bring Sebastian back into the fold and to try to control Sebastian's drinking. This causes strain in Ryder's relationship with Sebastian as does Ryder's romantic attentions to Sebastion's sister Julia. A central theme of the book is the struggle Ryder has in understanding the Catholic faith of the family at Brideshead. Making the narrator an architectural painter was very appropriate for Waugh's style of writing--only a painter could see and describe so evocatively the beauty of the landscape, interior decoration and magnificence of the architecture at Brideshead. The book was made into a great British TV mini-series and into a not very well done movie. The movie places too much emphasis on a homosexual relationship between Sebastian and Ryder. This relationship is not explicitly described in the book and is in no sense a central theme of the novel. Indeed, while Sebastian is described throughout the book as a flamboyant homosexual, Ryder clearly has interests in women much to the annoyance of Sebastian.

KINDLE IS ORIGINAL EDITION
By D. Gibson
Nothing to add regarding the story, Brideshead is and will be, one of my favorite novels. A note about editions though; Waugh originally published Brideshead Revisited in 1945. Waugh wrote it during the war years and with time, developed a "growing dissatisfaction with its literary style. He found it too lush, too decorative or ornamental in too many places." For me, that "lushness" is one of the reasons that I fell in love with the language of the novel. He republished the novel in 1959, with a number of the passages trimmed or "toned down". There are some additions as well but overall the novel is tightened up (although I would disagree with the author that his revised version is "better"). For more information you can read "Companion to Evelyn Waugh's 'Brideshead Revisited' by David Cliffe on the internet. Through a convoluted history, which need not be discussed here, the original or first edition is referred to as the "American" edition and the revised one is the "British" edition. I own both copies in hardback myself and find that both have merits but as previously stated, my preference is the original. I am glad to say that the Kindle version appears to be the original version. I have found the quickest way to tell which one you are reading is by going to Book I, Chapter 1 'Et in Arcadia Ego' (God knows how much has been written on that memento mori) and reading the first paragraph. In the original edition the words "fool's-parsley" is written and the phrase is "soft vapors of a thousand years of learning". In the revised edition, the fool's-parsley is eliminated and the phrase is changed to "soft airs of centuries of youth". Hope this helps as the original version available on the Kindle was the revised one. Which begs the question, for $9.68, why can't the publisher include both editions?

Soon, however, the cookbook caught on, and before Artusi died, more than 200,000 copies had been sold. Filled with amusing anecdotes as well as recipes, the book is a perennial best seller in Italy, and has been translated into Spanish, Dutch, German and English, and most recently, Portuguese. The most important reason for Artusi's continued popularity, is that the book is fun. Artusi was a bon-vivant, a noted raconteur, and a celebrated host; he knew many of the leading figures of his day and read widely in the arts and sciences. Almost half his recipes contain anecdotes or snippets of advice on subjects as varied as regional dialects and public health: While you may open the book to find out how to make Minestrone or a German cake, you will probably read on to find out how Artusi escaped cholera, or what the Austrian troops who occupied Northern Italy in the 1840's were like.

My son, who does not like to read, is suddenly a reader!
By J. Lee
That statement enough should convince you to buy one of these books as a test. I bought one book for my son, who is 11 and suffers from Asperger's. He has never been a reader and even has no interest in the Harry Potter series. He has enjoyed Encyclopedia Brown so much that he took a book on a weekend getaway with us.

These are the same books I enjoyed as a child. They do not seem to have been updated or make politically correct for today's sheltered youth. There is no objectionable or even questionable language. Encyclopedia Brown is respectful, decent and helpful. I am delighted that my child, who has had no love for reading, read the first of these books in one day.

Delta Lady: A Memoir, by Rita Coolidge, Michael Walker

The two-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter bares her heart and soul in this intimate memoir, a story of music, stardom, love, family, heritage, and resilience.

She inspired songs—Leon Russell wrote “A Song for You” and “Delta Lady” for her, Stephen Stills wrote “Cherokee.” She co-wrote songs—“Superstar” and the piano coda to “Layla,” uncredited. She sang backup for Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, and Stills, before finding fame as a solo artist with such hits as “We're All Alone” and “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher.” Following her story from Lafayette, Tennessee to becoming one of the most sought after rock vocalists in LA in the 1970s, Delta Lady chronicles Rita Coolidge’s fascinating journey throughout the ’60s-’70s pop/rock universe.

A muse to some of the twentieth century’s most influential rock musicians, she broke hearts, and broke up bands. Her relationship with drummer Jim Gordon took a violent turn during the legendary 1970 Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour; David Crosby maintained that her triangle with Stills and Graham Nash was the last straw for the group. Her volatile six-year marriage to Kris Kristofferson yielded two Grammys, a daughter, and one of the Baby Boom generation’s epic love stories. Throughout it all, her strength, resilience, and inner and outer beauty—along with her strong sense of heritage and devotion to her family—helped her to not only survive, but thrive. Co-written with best-selling author Michael Walker, Delta Lady is a rich, deeply personal memoir that offers a front row seat to an iconic era, and illuminates the life of an artist whose career has helped shape modern American culture.

Review
“Candidly tells the ups and downs of her life story, including her romantic relationships with Leon Russell, Stephen Still, Graham Nash and Kris Kristofferson.” (Parade)

“Unusually frank and compelling.” (San Diego Union-Tribune)

“DELTA LADY is so intimate, you feel you are in a room with Rita Coolidge as she confides her experiences as backup singer, songwriter, star — and muse to some of rock’s greatest talents. An extraordinary, moving, and insightful journey through the minefields of musical talent, ego and glamour.” (Sheila Weller, author of GIRLS LIKE US: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon — and the Journey of a Generation)

“Lyrical…. Exhibits a deep understanding of human nature…. Authentic and intimate.” (Publishers Weekly)

“Surprisingly rich… in a manner that rarely seems gossipy and never salacious, the author presents her perspective on the sea changes that rock underwent in the early 1970s, an era in which she played a key role…. This illuminating autobiography exceeds expectations.” (Kirkus)

“It’s funny how one person’s memory can wake yours up, transporting you instantly to that particular time in your life. The life story of this beautiful, strong, elegant woman takes me back to a happier place in my past and I hope others get the same feeling reading Rita’s story, the story of a life well worth living.” (Graham Nash)

“The personal saga of a young woman who was driven to sing and the account of a time in which pop music itself was finding a new version of itself…. A positive, uplifting life story…. For Coolidge’s legion of fans, this is a must-read.” (Booklist)

A sweet trip down memory lane for some of us
By Terry
You have to be of a certain age to fully appreciate Delta Lady, the autobiography of Rita Coolidge. I always adored her music and the recognition she brought to Native American artists but until I read this book, I had no idea how involved she was with all of the music I grew up on.

This book is written in a folksy style. It roughly follows a timeline but there are drifts, just as if she was talking to you across the table. It's more like Ms. Coolidge sat down one day and answered the question "Tell me about your life." And what a life she's had.

From an early age, she was an integral part of the fabric of the music scene in the 60s and 70s, She is a gifted singer and song writer in her own right and she performed with legends like Leon Russell, Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Steven Stills, Graham Nash, Delaney & Bonnie and Kris Kristofferson. She was on the renown Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour. Her stories and recollections about her tours and musical collaborations were fascinating to me because they were all my heroes.

It was the 60s and the 70s when Ms. Coolidge was making musical history with so many amazing musicians. She ended up having romantic relationships with quite a few of them and she's fairly open about discussing this in Delta Lady. Some of these relationships profoundly impacted the bands themselves. For example, she had a casual relationship with Steven Stills and then began seeing Graham Nash seriously, which caused so much tension in the band that David Crosby claims it is what broke up Crosby, Stills and Nash.

The book held a number of surprising facts for me, too. Things I didn't know like Leon Russell wrote Song For You (my favorite song of all time), Hummingbird and Delta Lady for Ms. Coolidge. That's how she got the nickname Delta Lady and what inspired the book's title. I also had no idea she helped write Layla (Eric Clapton's famous hit) although she never received public credit for it.

Of course, she covers her tumultuous relationship and marriage to Kris Kristofferson. She is quite candid about the difficult aspects of her relationships and her marriage and divorce and at times it's painful.

She discusses her family and her daughter throughout the book and it serves to give you a better picture of Rita Coolidge, the woman.

This isn't a literary masterpiece but if you lived through or loved the music of the 60s and the 70s, you'll likely enjoy this backstage look at the musicians we loved. If you know nothing about Ms. Coolidge or the music and musicians of that period, this probably won't hold much interest for you. For me, it brought back wonderful memories.

BTW, Ms. Coolidge is now 70 and still performing. If you get a chance to buy some of her music or catch a concert, she's still got the goods.

Behind the curtains
By Mary M.
There is no one I would rather listen to than Rita Coolidge. I have gone to hear Rita at great venues such as Madison square garden when she was married to Kris, and just about any place she appeared in NYC solo. My favorite was at a Supper club within a hotel on Madison Avenue where In between songs she would stop and tell long stories about the circumstances of the song or the time and place. Rita is a great story teller who kept her audiences captivated and entertained. She was so warm and after the show you could have your picture taken with her and say hello.

Her stories although shorter than those in the book, however, never placed the person she was talking about in a bad light. She would never, as far as I remember criticize somebody else for there off key singing or repeat something they might have said in there darkest hours.
Throughout the book I wondered if this was Rita's voice or Michael walkers voice wanting to spice it up or an editor who thought a certain "tone" would sell more books. If you love Rita like I do you will have to buy the book and read it for yourself, however I think a lot was lost in having a co-author. Do not misunderstand me, the book was a page turner and gave me glimpse into a world that is hard to relate to. I guess it is just the side of Rita Coolidge I never imagined

By D. L. Coulter
if you know anything about the Delta Lady... then you know how she can tell a tale and how she can make an audience feel like she has come into their home and is sitting talking maybe over tea... its a great/fast read... as each chapter tells of her many experiences with some of rock and roll's greatest characters... it appears to be very honest and from her soul... the story of 'Layla' is something i had heard years ago... and its mentioned in the book 'Skydog' (Duane Allmans biography) but its great to finally hear it from her... WOW that's quite a rip-off for sure... amazing never before seen photos inside as well... and the cover should be made into a poster!!!

## All dressed up and no place to howl!
By alaska
12-year-old Alex is sent off to stay with his quirky aunt and uncle for Halloween while his parents work internationally. Aunt Marta and Uncle Colin live in a small, close-knit community of Wolf Creek where everyone -- everyone -- believes in and is obsessed with werewolves. Even the schools seem to teach nothing but werewolf mythology,* and most nights are (somehow) lit by a full moon.

Alex's hobby is photography, and before you know it, he's sneaking around trying to photograph the unusual neighbors (never seen but always heard), and taking kids up on their dares to stay in the woods at night to capture werewolves on film. As Halloween approaches, he discovers the identity of a few real werewolves, and he and his friend Hannah plot to steal the werewolf skins as Halloween costumes.

Like R.L. Stine's weird-o vampires in Vampire Breath, the werewolves of Werewolf Skin are removed from typical werewolf mythology. Werewolves aren't just half-wolves who turn into their darker natures under the light of the moon -- they rely on skins which they shed every morning. They have to hide their skins away until the next evening, then, as the moon rises overhead, werewolves must wrap the layers of the skin close around them, and let the animal's nature fuse to their bodies.

Stine's earlier vampires, I thought, were kinda pathetic, but the werewolves' reliance on these external skins is actually gross, and provides some of the book's most effective moments in which we see the startling transformation of these monsters. It's a slow, gross, painful process. Speaking of the book's horror, Werewolf Skin sheds the series' trademark playfulness and dives into explicit gore: Wild animals are violently torn apart at multiple points. They're tense moments, and for more mature audiences than most Goosebumps entries.

I enjoyed most of Werewolf Skin, but feel a lot of its horror aspects aren't used well at all. Halloween is set up as a major event, but its hardly celebrated or acknowledged prior to and even during Halloween night. The only use, it seems, was to tie the story into the book's release date (Oct. '97). The werewolf plot builds up tension really well towards a few natural twists, keeping the reader guessing the whole way which direction it will go, but then foregoes those for something totally random and bland. Werewolf Skin just sorta fizzles out and ends over the last 20 pages, making it an good entry rather than a great one. Bummer. We really need more quality werewolf stories.

*Somewhat questionably, as in the short time we know the teacher, everything he says is incorrect, even in the context of the story's unique mythology.

All dressed up and no place to howl!
By Edward Isogai
First of all, to people who don't like Goosebumps because its not scary. What do you expect? It's for 7 - 12 year old kids, meaning not very frightening but a mysterious ending. Goosebumps is a mystery book in a sort way, because every time you read goosebumps series, you wonder how the storyline is going to be connected to the ending. I started to read goosebumps at the age of 8, and never once did I thought goosebumps was scary. (I read almost every book of the Original Goosebumps Series). But I still love goosebumps, and R.L.Stine is the authour that made me wanting to be an authour. So the bottom line is, don't read goosebumps if you want chill on your back. If you want a chill, I'd say watch the movie "The Grudge". LOL!

Anyways, this book is one of the bests in R.L.Stine's Goosebumps books. I won't give the good parts away like the person before me did, but here's a bit of a summary.

Alex Hunter is a photography freak, and he has to stay at Wolf Creek where his Uncle Colin and Aunt Marta lives, because his parents had to fly to France for business. The cool part is, his aunt and uncle is a professional photographers.

He meets Hannah, who lives next door. And she tells Alex about the werewolfs... She saids that Alex's other next door, Marlings, are werewolfs.

Poor Alex. He just wanted to take a couple of pictures. But now he's about to find out the secret of Wolf Creek. When the moon is full...

This book won't be the same without the awesome ending. A 5 star from me, and if you're lucky, you might get a terrifying(?) werewolf mask inside!

Werewolf Skin review by Stephen Kolliniatis
By My name is StephenK.
This GOOSEBUMPS book, Werewolfn Skin, is one of the best GOOSEBUMPS books.
Alex Hunter is a photography freak. His mum and dad have to be at a business job in Atlanta. So Alex has to stay at his aunt Marta and uncle Colin's house in Wolf Creek. Aunt Marta and uncle colin are proffesional photographers.
Aunt Marta and uncle Colin only have 2 requests. Don't go in the woods late at night and don't go to the Marlins' house next door.
The house which is rundown and broken.
Then Alex meets Hannah, a friend Alex met whie staying at wolf creek.
But Alex is having a bad time at Wolf Creek. Because Alex knows a secret. Aunt Marta and uncle Colin are werewolves. And the Marlings don't exist. Aunt Marta and uncle Colin hide their werewolf skin there.
And late at night, aunt Marta and uncle Colin get the werewolf skin and put it on. Then they howl at the moon and turn into ... Werewolves.
I really like Werewolf Skin a lot!
