Great Book.

This book teaches you how to get in touch with angels and experience magic in everyday life. With these tools you can enhance your everyday life. This book teaches you history on angels. This book aught me so much about angels and about magic. I learned there are different hierarchies of angels. It also tells about the angels and demons. I never knew there was so much information about angels, demons and magic. If you want to learn about them this is a book for you.

This is the first book I read about Angels it's so different, I know they have Angels because I'm religious, but never go deep into search how they are or what they do etc...

This book is focus on the history of Angels, their presence in world religions, the spells and knowledge how to utilize all of these elements to live the life we want.

Summon the Power of Angels

I don't really know what to think about this book. It was definitely interesting and informative (which is why I gave it a 4 star rating), but I Don't really know how I personally feel about angels and demons. Maybe i'm just being closed minded. The book itself is good however, it goes over quite nicely about angels, demons, and the power we can get from synchronizing ourselves with them.

Easy for kids to pick up and make it work - very rewarding book!

Great book! I bought this book so my 12 year old daughter and her buddy could try it out. They both want to be computer programmers when they "grow up" and I thought this would be a good start for them. They had so much fun on the weekend working their way through it. They were so proud when they got their computers to say "hello world" and their first program worked! Now, they are working on their calculators and starting with conditional statements. I can't believe how fast they are picking it up! Thanks so much!

Java projects for the clueless parent

Kids pick up programing quickly. The problem is, they learn how to do things, but they don’t always understand how they did it. Recently, after reworking a java script game in an open source course the question was asked, “how can I make my own program?” I was asked to “Help” figure out how they could actually do their own game from scratch. Let’s start out by saying, there are a lot of resources on JAVA, but I don’t have the time or the patience to wade through a five inch thick manual when what I need is a more straight forward presentation. This book was definitely what we needed. First, like the open source course, it was focused on creating something specific – an interactive calculator – second it offered solid foundational information that could be used to work on other JAVA projects. My advice is as follows, 1) get this book 2) read it 3) give it to the kid and have them read it. 4) go do something else while they program. This way you have a clue what’s going on and they have a good resource to use as they learn.

A bad format spoils the learning

I develop software and I've taught computers to kids. This book will be OK for the kid that's very driven to learn, but it's format has a number of issues that will make most kids uninterested.

First - the paperback format doesn't fit the book. The typical conventions used to separate example code aren't followed, and the narrow paperback pages don't let the lines fit together making it difficult to read. Font choices are bad, making some sections hard to separate from the text.

Next - This isn't going to succeed for a kid to LEARN about java at a kids level. This will let the kids type in the program in the book and make things work, but the typical 10-12 year old isn't going to understand the discussion about the data types as it's set up. A longer format and diagrams would give kids some mental images to work with.

Finally, as with any Java environment, this book must tackle the often oppressive installation and command line bias required. It's entirely correct, but for parents hoping to give their kids a way to experience programming, it presents a high barrier to entry. The short format of the book doesn't allow for a description or quick reference for when things go bad.

About the Author

Gary Ferraro, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, received his BA in history from Hamilton College and his MA and PhD degrees from Syracuse University. He has been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Swaziland in Southern Africa (1979-80) and again at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic (2003), and has served twice as a visiting professor of anthropology in the University of Pittsburgh's Semester at Sea Program, a floating university that travels around the world. He has conducted research for extended periods of time in Kenya and Swaziland and has traveled widely throughout many other parts of the world. He has served as a consultant/trainer for such organizations as USAID, the Peace Corps, the World Bank, IBM, Georgia Pacific, Duke Energy, and J.M. Huber, among others. From l996 to 2000 Dr. Ferraro served as the Director of the Intercultural Training Institute at UNC-Charlotte, a consortium of cross cultural trainers/educators from academia and business, designed to help regional organizations cope with cultural differences at home and abroad. In 2000 he became the president of Intercultural Associates, a private firm specializing in cross cultural training, consulting, and coaching. In addition to a number of articles in professional journals, he is the author of:
