Practical Principles and Applications for Experiencing the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit

James Maloney is a gifted communicator, an expressive story teller, and an articulate writer. I was emotionally touched and moved with compassion as I read his vivid descriptions of physical suffering and the plight of the diseased and infirmed in hopeless circumstances. Humanly speaking, doomed to more horrific suffering and death.

Overwhelmed by the Spirit offers hope to the suffering and a challenge to the reader; to take action and join him in unlocking the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit available within and to do His work.

This is strong theological teaching on the Holy Spirit, well documented, from a Charismatic tradition, with practical principles and application that cross over any denominational lines. I appreciated the scholarly presentation at an academic level that will be appreciated by theologians, yet written with clarity easily understandable at a layman's level.

The book details the progression of the Maloney's ministry and takes him to a new understanding of what it means to manifest the sonship of God and to allow Christ full reign in his life. Consistent with his testimony and with Biblical teaching James helps the reader discover their gift and calling, experience supernatural experiences in their lives, to walk in the miraculous, and to lead others to Christ.

Evangelism

The first seven out of nine chapters was attempting to show us that the Helper (Holy Spirit) is training us to present the truth to others. The overarching message of the book is evangelism. Joining with God through the Holy Spirit to witness to others that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Or that God really wants to have a relationship with everyone. I.E. that none should perish but all will have eternal life. Chapters 1-4 and 6 were hard for me too understand what the author was trying to impart to the reader. Chapter 5 was the best one of the first six chapters. This dealt with what happened to his wife and how he responded. The book seemed very dry. It would have helped to understand what the author was trying to get the reader to understand if he could have used some examples. The end of the book provides sample chapters of other books for you to read (kindle version). Not sure why they did this. The last chapter gives the reader a description of the very basic level of Hell. You may not believe the author on how he arrived at that description. The description sounds like what we would think Hell was. Even if you do not fully believe everything presented, you will get a feeling of were a person could go. With that information, the author stress the importance of evangelism so that no one will ever have to go there again.

First level of Hell

Overwhelmed by the Spirit is a good book. I found the chapter called Hopeless to be an eye opener. In this chapter James describes an angel taking him to see the first level of Hell. I won't include everything that James saw but enough to reveal a picture. You can read the rest for yourself.

James felt his spirit body going straight down through the ground and through the earth. Based on this, Hell must be inside the center of the earth where we think of the hot molten lava core being. I'm wondering if earthquakes and volcanos are really Hell expanding?

James found himself and the angel in a large, dark cavern. The walls looked like black concrete. He heard screaming, moaning and wailing. The place was very hot like a furnace.

The smell was an overpowering stench of sulfur and burning decay. He had all of his senses; sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. He found that he had to beathe just like we do as humans. So he was breathing this stinky air in and out of his lungs and breathing was difficult due to the extreme heat. James could think with his mind just as he did in our human world.

Large demons were chained to the walls. They were growling and yanking on their chains. They spoke in some kind of demon language.

James saw what he thought was a lake filled with very black water but instead he realized the water was an oily or gooey sludge and at the bottom of it was a multitude of narrow pits. Inside each pit was a soul submerged in the sludge and beathing the substance in and out of their soul-bodies. The souls could not climb out. They will breath that black, oily sludge in and out of their bodies forever.

James believes the punishment for sin is torment and hopelessness forever and souls are not annilated after a certain period of time, instead, they are left in Hell forever to pay for their sins.

I enjoyed the raw animus

I first read this Jack London book fifty-five years ago. It inspired me to read more books and especially all of the London books. I enjoyed the raw animus, the Alaska wilderness, and the struggle to survive. I love adventure, the outdoors, dogs, hunting, fishing, and hiking. Consequently, this book was a perfect start for me.

Buck is a beloved character and the book is very well written - so well, that I could suggest it as a writing clinic in itself! Highly recommended. The Call of the Wild

Dark Light Consciousness.

I bought this book a year ago, and wanted to spend a least a month chewing on the information, one of the most powerful books on consciousness, melanin serpent powers I have read thus far, the first half of the book from pages 1-124 took time to get thought the medical jargon in learning about the different functions of the brain. after that you got a course in awakening the divine serpent energy via different techniques. Dr Bynum knows his stuff, he takes you on a journey through different mystical schools of thought on awakening the kundalini serpent, from Kemet, India, Vodun, Orisha, Dogon and even Pentecostal churches and raising the energies, I will not pretend this is an easy book to read, this is like an initiation into cosmic sciences in which the student must pay attention. on page 183 the section on Health and Breath has me more aware of my breathing throughout the day, I found myself practicing some of the exercise in the book and went to a deeper meditative state, while the frequencies on this planet has changed, leading those of us who are spiritualist into a more profound state of consciousness and easy moving in and out of a trance like state, this books breaks down the nuts and bolts of the overall matrix of how to awaken the serpent energies, this book has put me on a path to explore more of the dark light consciousness experience.

This is a must have for anyone searching for the way to start manifesting any desire, I have found that everything we need to accomplish any goal is already inside of us, we have not been taught by any school how to tap into the waiting potentially of our being. Start with daily deep breathing and meditation. Began to see what you desire to happen in your life and take your focus off of the TV, Radio and ect.All the power is in you!!!! Never let anyone tell any different!!!!!

Wonderful guide to universal truth

In this book, Dr. Bynum continues to make significant contributions to our understanding of "higher dimensions of reality". This long awaited and most recent work is a beautiful integration of the sciences including physiology, neuroanatomy, psychology and physics. By discussing the role that neuromelanin plays in the brain and the association of neuromelanin with key neural and endocrine system plexuses/pathways, Dr. Bynum has so elegantly outlined and given empirical evidence for the practice of the "Ureaus" and drawn a clear connection between it and ancient teachings. The major topics are explained in such a way that readers from a non-science background can benefit from these tested methods. The meditative process that is discussed can be practiced by anyone with dedication and discipline. He presents very compelling ideas, both medically and scientifically, that substantiate a method to reach a level of "higher consciousness" or contact with a "spiritual self".

To ground his explorations, Clark investigates both liberalism and structuralism, showing that both are inadequate bases for determining social policy. He mounts provocative critiques of the works of de Tocqueville, Nozick, Tiebout, and Posner on the one hand and Castells and Poulantzas on the other.�

How to develop. "Forty years ago, for a typical suburban house, the cost of engineering, planning, and surveying, including fees paid to agencies, was about the cost of a refrigerator today. Today it is probably greater than the total cost of all of kitchen and other electronic appliances combined." So write Sidney Dewberry and Dennis Couture in the overview chapter that introduces the mammoth second edition of the Land Development Handbook: Planning, Engineering, and Surveying (2002; McGraw-Hill; 1,124 pp.; $150). A development and consulting firm, the Dewberry Companies, is listed as author, which seems appropriate since most of the 26 editors and contributing authors are employees of the firm.

The first edition of this handbook was published in 1996. For this version, several of the 41 chapters have been updated, and the order of presentation has been changed to reflect the way issues come up in a project. There are six sections: feasibility and site analysis, conceptual design, schematic design, final design, plan submission and permitting, and construction. This is a how-to book that aspires to be both extensive and detailed; its table of contents alone runs 13 pages.

As the title and cover photo suggest, the authors focus on development of greenfields. The engineering perspective is dominant, and the book's brief mentions of smart growth and new ways of designing feel largely extraneous to the business at hand. Thus, the 51-page chapter on suburban street design devotes two pages to pedestrians, and the list of suggested readings in the chapter on development patterns and principles includes no work published since 1990. A Must Have Pub

Ever since I purchased this publication I can't stop using it. Every civil engineer should have this as part of their reference library, regardless of your area of specialty. It provides macro to micro scale explanations of general processes, design applications, etc in a very readable format. More times than I can remember I have looked to this book for an answer or at least for some guidance and was throuroughly satisfied. No it is not a definitive reference for civil engineers but its' breadth and usability overshadows any technical shortcomings. If I had to have just one reference book for my area of practice (general civil), this would be it. Yeah, yeah, the "Standard Handbook for Civil Engineers" is a more definitive reference, but I usually find out what I need in this pub.
ps - Almost everyone of my fellow employees that has used the book has purchased their own, find someone you know who has a copy and check it out for yourself.

This book is the first book that really reflects and addresses most of the "everyday" issues encountered in site design and land development. It has a practical application and includes most of the charts, tables and nomographs that are necessary to complete a given design procedure. It also provides very appropriate and helpful examples.

An excellent reference for engineers at all levels.

The book is thorough in its presentation of every aspect of land development. It examines the intricacies involved in a project from planning to engineering to construction stakeout. The authors apply all this knowledge in a Case Study of an actual development which they planned and designed. Numerous graphics, tables and charts were employed to reinforces the information in the text.

Searching for Percy, who is missing, Annabeth arrives and takes the three to Camp Half-Blood, where they learn that they are demigods. Their parents are gods in their Roman rather than Greek personae. By sunset of the solstice in three days, the teens must rescue Hera, Queen of the gods, or Porphyrion, the giant king created to destroy Zeus and unseat the gods of Olympus, will rise. Their quest takes them across the United States, sometimes flying on a mechanical, 60-foot dragon, as they use their power and wits against Medea, King Midas, and the giant cannibal Enceladus. Riordan excels at clever plot devices and at creating an urgent sense of cliff-hanging danger. The gods have gone silent...

When I first heard that Rick Riordan was setting another series in the same universe that he had created for Percy Jackson, I was both excited and a little wary. Excited because I had enjoyed that world and felt it had lots of potential for new adventures; wary because I feared the new series might not meet my expectations and that, if it didn't, it might somehow cast a pall over my affection for the Percy Jackson books. I need not have worried. The Lost Hero, the first book in that new series - the Heroes of Olympus - managed to meet all of my expectations and did so in a style that made me glad Riordan had gone ahead with the idea. While having read the Percy Jackson books is not a pre-requisite for enjoying The Lost Hero, I do think those who have done so will be able to immerse themselves in this world much more quickly and will enjoy the book more than those unfamiliar with Percy's story.

The Lost Hero introduces three new main characters - Jason, who has no memory of his life before page one of the story, Piper, a girl with "kaleidoscope eyes" (all together now - Lucy in the sky-yi with diamonds...) who has the gift of persuading people to give her things and Leo, whose clever and creative hands need to be always busy. As the story begins, the three are part of a group from a school for troubled kids on a field trip to the horseshoe shaped Skywalk that curves out over the Grand Canyon. Since the very existence of this Skywalk in real life kind of freaks me out (seriously, have you seen the pictures of it?), I wasn't particularly surprised when freaky occurrences ensued almost as soon as our new heroes stepped onto it.

Readers are pitched head-first into one of the first forays in a new battle the demi-gods will soon find themselves embroiled in. In short order we learn that the gods have gone silent and that Percy Jackson is missing. Jason, Piper and Leo are all having visions, dreams or reawakened memories, many of which revolve around Hera who, we discover, is being held prisoner. Along with a new Great Prophecy (Seven half-bloods shall answer the call/To storm or fire the world must fall/An oath to keep with a final breath/and foes bear arms to the Doors of Death), a new quest must be undertaken by the trio of newbies to find and free Hera.

I appreciate that Riordan continues to give us both strong female and ethnically diverse characters and that he seems able to hit many of the right notes in depicting teenage language, actions and emotions. For me, he has a knack for making his characters seem real and believable and, in The Lost Hero, he once again succeeds in making me care about them. My sympathy for and interest in the trio builds as details of their lives are revealed in the early chapters of the book (each chapter is told from either Jason, Piper or Leo's third person POV) and by the time they head off on their quest, I'm fully invested in seeing them through their adventures.

One of my favorite aspects of The Lost Hero is the inclusion of Roman mythology with the Greek that was the focus in the Percy Jackson series. I found the discussions of the subtle differences in the gods from one culture to the other really interesting and reading about them made me want to learn more about both.

Lastly, for those dying to know, Percy Jackson definitely plays a role in this series. How significant that role will be remains to be seen. Next up in the series is The Son of Neptune, due in the fall of 2011.

Highly recommended. Riordan has laid the groundwork here for another fun and exciting series and I'm already looking forward to the next book.

Great book with a great story line

Great book with a great story line. Hoping they turn this into a movie. That would be so awesome.

Jason has a problem. He doesn't remember anything before waking up on a school bus holding hands with a girl. Apparently she's his girlfriend Piper, his best friend is a kid named Leo, and they're all students in the Wilderness School, a boarding school for "bad kids." What he did to end up here, Jason has no idea—except that everything seems very wrong.
